Multivet International Inc. is a Canadian company that was founded by the Garon family in 1996. We have always been concerned with the great number of healthy animals that are abused, abandoned or destroyed because of some behavioral problem. We had to find better solutions, and we did: our products are designed not to cause pain, fear or anxiety in animals, but to educate and control them in the most comforting manner. They either set boundaries in and around the home, or help correct behavioral problems such as nuisance barking and destructive habits. Quite simply, our cruetly-free and ecologically safe products improve the quality of life of both animals and people, and help establish long-lasting relationships based on trust.
Animal shelters around the world have become the
dumping grounds
for millions of unwanted dogs and cats. The Cornell University Department of Veterinary Science reports that about 75% of all cats and over 56% of all dogs relinquished at shelters across America are euthanized each year, with millions more being put down in private veterinary clinics. In June 2003, the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies released similar statistics. According to Dr. Gary Patronek, Director of the Center for Animals and Public Policy at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, "The reason animals end up in shelters is because they are unwanted, and they are usually unwanted because of a behavior problem." This is one of the reasons why Multivet created the Better Solutions award program for non-profit research groups dedicated to improve the welfare of animals.
